Andrew Barber and Canary co-founder Paula Booker
A Collaboration: Ship of Fools
Exhibition 27 October - 6 November 2004

A two person, one work show equals people making good.
Well, it's an object that could have been
significant...if built by engineers instead of artists HA!
It’s what kids would do if you’d let them…a
bit of a train wreck, or a plane wrecked on carnival day...
Andrew Barber and Paula Booker have been
working together for some time (though in more of shared
space, than this space of shared reason )
Andrew and Paula, both working intuitively, wanted to make
an object without an author (even considered not putting
their names to it) as a gesture of true disowning…no
not like that, more in the spirit of collaboration.
Paula has a proud history of failed objects,
she had a defunct water-cooler fountain in the CNZ foyer
Dec - March. She ran rings around Canary gallery in February
this year with a toy train in reverse. Andrew had his disaster
quota too. Miniature statues of himself beaten up by kids
outside Canary in April, his ANAL EATERS sign blow away
in windy Wellington in June. His name is mud etc... so anyway
this worked out well for us but this one...
