Erica van Zon
in
SKATE AND DESTROY
Exhibition 25th January - 5th February 2004

Erica’s Canary show featured unique hand crafted
works, combining the cult graphic design status of skate
graphics with craft materials.
She has created a set of ideal boards, if only they weren’t
so floppy...
Erica draws inspiration from various fields, hip hop phrases,
personal experiences, key landmarks, graphics from items
of clothing, Avril Lavigne, and DDR design.
All of the pieces are carefully constructed by hand, in
front of the telly, they come as complete set ups with trucks,
wheels and grip.
Graduating in 2001 from AUT's sculpture department, Erica
has shown at Michael Lett, Stella Gregg and rm 103 in Auckland,
Dudespace in Melbourne, En Passant, Showcase.nl and The
Chiellerie in Amsterdam, and had a small show?in her apartment
at the Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas.
Erica now lives and works in Melbourne.
