LOVE IN SPACE
VS
THE HUMAN RACE
Exhibition from 23rd February - 5th March 2005
Love in space versus the human race investigates unexplored
space through physicality, imagination and femininity. Both
artists are interested in ideas of navigation, whether it’s
through questioning women’s cultural positioning as
in Dianna’s work or in Bryleigh’s work which
explores experiences of science and imagination in uncharted
territory.
How do women navigate between their lived experience and
the representations of femininity that surround them? The
human condition positions us in structures which are not
only hard to identify, but also difficult to escape from.
My work explores the spaces between my own experience and
representations of women in film, television, fashion, and
advertising- Dianna Brinsden
When an image is transmitted from outer space into known
space, the image itself displays signs of its journey. My
work explores potential narratives that evolve through the
process of transmission and between what is seen and what
can be imagined - Bryleigh Morsink.
