If Ben's infamous lurid large-scale two-tone paintings could be simplistically summed up as Rothko-meets-Hawaii Five-O, his water features might be wedged somewhere in between the pristine ASB bank foyer and a portable good luck generating device.

They are like aspirations of elegant coolness drowning in a pool of kitsch-charm.

For his recent Enjoy show, Ben collected water from Wellington city's numerous public water-features to create a site-specific Tankard water-tribute in the gallery. K'Rd puddles have been left well-alone in this Canary show. It is Ben's most amibtious water-project to date, in all its glorious splish-splash haphazardry.
