Jade Pardy
Wearing Your Heart on Your Sleeve

Exhibition 11th -21st May 2005

Jade's embroidered shields are like daydreamy streams of consciousness and idealistic girly fantasies.
The romanticised notion of pious women at home embroidering is contradicted in Jade's candid and cutting tales of love lost and man abandoned. Pink letters are delicately sewn in a tone that suggests confessional, Jade's soft wall plaques are personal slogans
and quotes as well as pure fiction and white lies.

The traditionally heroic, historic and ceremonial shields appear more as a candid personal monologue of life and events. The shield is soft, the text is large; it is not
celebratory of one's family history and tradition rather an indulgence of emotional texts.
